Australian State Summaries

QLD: A big high near New Zealand is weakening but a new one is coming from the south. This will bring strong winds along the east coast. There will be big waves and more wind coming from the east over the weekend and into next week.

NSW and ACT: A big high pressure system over New Zealand is moving towards the east of the state. A cold front will bring cooler weather and a change in wind direction to the southwest today. A strong high pressure system will follow later this week in the southeast.

VIC: A chilly front is coming from the southwest and will cross Victoria today as a high in the Tasman weakens and moves east. A new high pressure system in the Bight will bring a ridge over Victoria by Wednesday night. The high will move slowly over Victoria on Thursday and Friday, then linger over the Tasman Sea on Saturday.

SA: A strong high pressure system will stay over northern South Australia while weak troughs move across the southern coasts in the coming days. Another high pressure system will form south of the Bight on Wednesday, moving over Victoria and then the Tasman Sea by the weekend.

WA: A hill in the south will keep winds blowing from the east in the northern areas.

TAS: A strong wind from the northwest will blow in Tasmania as a cold front moves through. The wind will shift to the southwest later in the day and continue into Thursday. A high pressure system will bring lighter winds from the west on Thursday and Friday, with a cold front passing to the south on Saturday.

NT: A line of high ground runs through the southern part of the country, causing winds to blow from the east in the Northern Territory. Dry winds from the southeast will spread across the top part of the territory, except for the northeast, as a high pressure system moves through the region.
