Australian State Summaries

QLD: A big high in the Tasman Sea is bringing strong winds to the east coast. It will stay for a few days before weakening as it moves east. A trough in the Coral Sea and New Guinea will hang around for a while. A new high might come over the Great Australian Bight next week.

NSW and ACT: A slow-moving high pressure system near the NSW coast is causing a ridge to form over the state. This ridge will get stronger tomorrow as the high moves east, sticking around until midweek. Then, a cold front from the southwest will move across the state.

VIC: A big high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is bringing warm air from the north to Victoria. This will last until Tuesday when a weak cold front from the west is coming. The front should reach Victoria on Wednesday.

SA: A big area of high pressure over the Tasman Sea will keep things stable in the state. A weak trough will move through from late today to Monday, followed by calm weather until a weak cold front passes through the southeast on Wednesday morning. Another high pressure system will move in on Wednesday, settling in the Bight by evening.

WA: A ridge in the south is heading east and will be replaced by a new ridge forming in the southern part of the state next week. This will keep winds coming from the east in the northern areas.

TAS: A strong high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is causing strong northwesterly winds across the state until Monday. A cold front will affect the southern part of the state on Monday evening, followed by a stronger cold front in the west on Tuesday evening.

NT: A line of high ground is stretching through the Northern Territory, bringing in moist winds from the east that will bring showers to the Top End and spread westward over the weekend. Dry winds from the southeast will take over in the north by midweek as a high pressure system moves into the Bight.
