Australian State Summaries

QLD: A big high near Tasmania will bring clear weather and light winds to the state for the next few days. It will weaken a bit next week, but a new high could bring more settled conditions to the Great Australian Bight by next Wednesday.

NSW and ACT: A low-pressure area is moving north along the north coast and will weaken later today. This will allow a high-pressure system over Bass Strait to bring more stable weather to the state on Friday. The high will strengthen as it moves east over the weekend before a cold front moves through next week.

VIC: A strong high pressure system will travel through Bass Strait and into the Tasman Sea today, bringing dry and warm winds from the north. This will continue over the weekend. A cold front will move southwards towards the southwest of the state on Monday.

SA: A big high pressure system over eastern Bass Strait will keep moving eastward towards the Tasman Sea by the weekend, also creating a ridge over South Australia.

WA: A high ridge in the southern part of Western Australia is causing strong and gusty winds from the east over the Pilbara and Kimberley regions, but these winds will calm down by the weekend.

TAS: A strong high pressure system is sitting over Tasmania and will move towards the east. A warm northerly wind will pick up over the weekend and get stronger before a cold front arrives next week.

NT: A high pressure system is causing a dry wind from the southeast in most of the Northern Territory, except for the far northeast. Moist winds from the east will bring more humidity to the eastern Top End on Saturday and the western Top End on Sunday.
