Australian State Summaries

QLD: A ridge of high pressure is bringing increased winds and rain to southeast Australia. The winds will calm down later today. A weak trough will move through the southwest on Saturday and then across southern Queensland, before moving off the southeast coast by Monday. After the trough passes, a ridge will bring stable weather for a few days.

NSW and ACT: A low-pressure system near the northern NSW coast will move towards the central coast in the next few days. Another low-pressure system will reach the western part of the state today and move eastwards by Saturday, eventually moving offshore by Sunday. This may lead to a broad trough with a low-pressure system forming offshore.

VIC: A strong high-pressure system near Tasmania is spreading over Victoria, while a low-pressure system is moving in from the west. This will bring rain and cooler temperatures to the state over the weekend. Another cold front will follow on Sunday, with a high-pressure system returning on Monday.

SA: A low pressure system is moving across southern Australia, bringing showers and possible thunderstorms to parts of Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia. A high pressure system will bring clearer skies to the region from Saturday onwards.

WA: A wide area of low pressure is near the Kimberley and Pilbara coasts with a high pressure system over the North Interior. Another high pressure system is forming over southern WA, moving towards the southern Pilbara and North Interior on Friday, pushing the low pressure system away in the mornings.

TAS: Today, a dying cold front from the west will bring some rain to the southern part of the state in the afternoon. On Saturday, a high-pressure ridge will bring settled weather, followed by a cold front on Sunday. Monday will see a high-pressure system passing to the south.

NT: In the Northern Territory, a high pressure system is bringing dry winds from the southeast, reducing rain and storms to the far north. A trough will pass through the south today, with a cool change expected over the weekend. A tropical low will linger in the Arafura Sea for a few days.
