Queensland Synoptic

Tropical Low 30U is currently near the far northwest coast of the region and is expected to track westward over the next couple of days. A weak ridge covers most of the area, while a deep low in the Tasman Sea is forecast to weaken and shift towards New Zealand. A trough is set to move into the western part of the region today, progressing eastward over southern and central Queensland by Monday and clearing off the east coast by early Tuesday. Following the trough, a high pressure system near southern Australia will extend a new ridge over Queensland. This high will then move eastwards towards the Tasman Sea by mid-week, bringing some increased onshore flow to the southeast. By the end of the week, a new trough may affect southern Queensland.
