Australian State Summaries

QLD: High pressure will bring calm weather to eastern Queensland, while a trough in the Coral Sea will move southward, bringing rain to Far North Queensland. A low in the Tasman Sea will create rough seas and dangerous surf in southern Queensland. A trough will bring a cool change to southwestern Queensland by Sunday.

NSW and ACT: A strong high-pressure system is sticking around. A cold front will move through from the west on Sunday, then head out to sea on Monday. A low-pressure system will form near the coast next week after the cold front passes.

VIC: Today, a weak low pressure system is hanging around in the west, while a strong high pressure system is sitting over the central and eastern areas. A cold front and low pressure system are set to move in from the west on Saturday, crossing Victoria on Sunday and Monday. Later next week, a high pressure system will slowly move across from the west.

SA: A low pressure area in southern Western Australia will be taken over by a cold front and head east towards South Australia this weekend. A high pressure system will form in the Great Australian Bight on Sunday, bringing stable weather to the state early next week.

WA: Tropical Cyclone Errol is getting weaker as it heads towards the west Kimberley coast. It's expected to make landfall between Beagle Bay and Cockatoo Island on Friday night. A trough in the Pilbara is moving east, reaching the North Interior on Friday, with another trough forming near the west Pilbara coast over the weekend.

TAS: Today, there's a weak line of low pressure hanging around the state. Tomorrow, a new low pressure system will form in the Bight, heading towards Tasmania's west coast by late Saturday and moving over Victoria by late Sunday. Expect high pressure conditions from the Bight on Monday.

NT: A ridge is getting weaker in the Northern Territory. A tropical low near the eastern Arafura Sea will move southeast into the Gulf of Carpentaria in the next few days. A trough will move across southern NT tomorrow, followed by a ridge bringing a southeasterly surge north to the Barkly on Monday.
