QLD: A big high pressure system near New Zealand is bringing dry weather to western Queensland. This high will move east and be joined by another high from the south. A trough over the Coral Sea will bring rain to Far North Queensland. Showers will increase in southeast Queensland this weekend.
NSW and ACT: A strong high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will keep the weather stable over New South Wales for the rest of the week and weekend. There will be a band of unsettled weather over the inland areas. A line of storms is likely to form along the northern coast on Friday and Saturday, with more showers expected. The stormy weather is likely to ease early next week.
VIC: A strong weather system will move over Victoria on Friday night, bringing warm winds from the north over the weekend. A weaker system will pass to the south on Monday, followed by another high pressure system bringing more warm air from the north from late Monday to Thursday.
SA: A weak line of low pressure near Adelaide will head east towards northeastern South Australia today. A high pressure system will move over the ocean to the south, then shift quickly to the Tasman Sea. This will bring stable weather to SA over the weekend and into next week.
WA: A big area of low pressure is hanging around up north. It will be moving towards the Pilbara and Kimberley coasts soon, bringing some strong winds from the east. There's a tropical low 29U out in the Timor Sea, and it might become a cyclone over the weekend.
TAS: A high-pressure system over the Tasman Sea is bringing westerly winds to Tasmania. A weak cold front will pass through the east this morning followed by a high-pressure ridge later today. Another front will move through on Sunday and Monday, with a high developing southwest on Monday.
NT: A high pressure system in the Northern Territory will bring clear skies to the south and rain and storms to the north. A tropical low near the Top End will likely stay over the ocean, but could cause more rain and storms around the Tiwi Islands and Cobourg Peninsula.
