Australian State Summaries

QLD: A line of low pressure is stretching from the Gulf Country through northern Australia to the Herbert and Lower Burdekin. It will weaken and move northward towards Cape York Peninsula. A high pressure system in southwestern Australia is sending a ridge over western and southern Queensland, which will strengthen and move northward as the high shifts over the Bight. Another weak trough may pass through the far southeast on Monday or Tuesday.

NSW and ACT: High pressure ridge in the west and cold fronts in the southeast will bring dry winds to NSW and the ACT. A trough forming in the west and high pressure system in the southeast will bring moist winds to the central and northern coast.

VIC: A strong high pressure system near the Bight will bring clear skies and warm weather to Victoria. A cold front from the southwest will bring cooler temperatures and possible showers later today. Winds will shift to the west and then southwesterly. Warmer weather is expected mid-week as a high pressure system moves over the area.

SA: A strong high pressure system near Western Australia is causing clear skies and warm weather in South Australia. A cold front moving from the southwest will bring some cooler temperatures to the southeast today. The high will move eastward towards the Bight by Monday night and then over the Tasman Sea by Tuesday night. A trough will form in the west on Wednesday.

WA: A low pressure system near western Pilbara will move towards Northern Interior by next week, while a high pressure system in eastern Pilbara and southern Kimberley weakens. Expect changing weather conditions in these areas over the next few days.

TAS: Strong winds from the northwest will pick up overnight before a cold front moves in from the west. Monday will bring a change to southwesterly winds, shifting to westerly on Tuesday as a high pressure system moves in. The high will then move over Tasmania on Tuesday and out to the northeast on Wednesday.

NT: A big high over southern Australia is bringing sunny weather to the south this week. In the Northern Territory, there will be isolated showers and thunderstorms in the north due to more humid easterly winds.
