Australian State Summaries

QLD: A weather system is moving across Queensland from northwest to southeast, bringing rain near K'gari. The system will weaken and move northward to the northern interior and Central Coast today before moving northward during the weekend and next week. A ridge will form in western and southern Queensland, bringing stronger winds this weekend.

NSW and ACT: A strong high pressure system is bringing clear skies to New South Wales. Cold fronts will bring some rain to the south on Friday and over the weekend. Showers will return to the coast next week as a new high pressure system moves in.

VIC: A cold front is coming from the west to Victoria late Friday night and early Saturday. Another cold front will follow on Sunday, then a high pressure system will move in from the west early next week.

SA: A high-pressure system is moving over South Australia, bringing some weak cold fronts that will pass through the southeast tonight and Sunday afternoon.

WA: A low-pressure area near the western Pilbara coast will move eastwards over the weekend. A high-pressure ridge in the eastern Pilbara, North Interior and Kimberley will weaken in the coming days.

TAS: A weak high pressure system will be over Tasmania today. A strong cold front will move in from the west this evening. A stable westerly wind will come on Saturday. Another cold front will arrive on Sunday. Southwesterly winds will continue into Monday.

NT: A strong high pressure system over southwest Australia is bringing dry winds from the southeast to the southern parts of the Northern Territory. The monsoon season will begin in the north as a weather system moves northward, reaching the northern coast by the weekend.
