Australian State Summaries

QLD: A wide area of low pressure is stretching from the northwest to the southeast of the state, with a weak low pressure system in the southeast. The trough will move off the southeast coast today but hang around central and northern Queensland until later this week, then shift northward over the weekend. A ridge of high pressure will take over in western and southern Queensland, getting stronger over the weekend.

NSW and ACT: A big low pressure system over the south Tasman Sea is moving away today. A high pressure system is coming after it. Some cold fronts will bring rain in the south on Friday and the weekend. Showers will return in the east next week.

VIC: Southern Victoria will experience a weakening cold front today, followed by a stronger one from the west late tomorrow and early Saturday. A third cold front is expected on Sunday.

SA: A high-pressure system is moving over South Australia, bringing cooler temperatures with a chance of light rain from weak cold fronts in the southeast on Friday and Sunday.

WA: A band of low pressure will hang around the west Pilbara coast for the next few days.

TAS: A weak cold front will pass through the state this morning, followed by a new weak ridge forming later today. A strong cold front will move in from the west tomorrow evening, clearing out the ridge. A stable westerly airstream will set in on Saturday, with another strong cold front expected on Sunday.

NT: A strong high pressure system over southwest Australia is bringing dry winds from the southeast to parts of the Northern Territory. There will be isolated showers and thunderstorms in the north as a trough moves northwards, with more rain in the afternoons and evenings.
