QLD: A low-pressure system in western Queensland is bringing in a lot of moisture to the eastern parts of the state. It will move slowly eastward over the weekend before moving off the coast on Sunday. The southern part of the system will move away while the northern part will stick around in northern and central Queensland next week. Another weaker system near Fraser Island will move southward along the coast before moving further east on Sunday. A weak high-pressure system will be in place across the southern part of the state after the low-pressure system moves through.
NSW and ACT: A strong weather system over the southern Tasman Sea is teaming up with a trough over western Queensland and northwestern New South Wales to bring moist air from the east across the state. This will result in rain today and windy conditions over the weekend, before settling down early next week as the system moves away.
VIC: Today, expect cooler southerly winds after a weak trough passes through. A high pressure system will come in from the west. By the weekend, a low pressure system will form in the Tasman Sea, moving southeast next week. Brace for a cold front late Wednesday and early Thursday.
SA: A big high pressure system in the south of Australia is bringing cool, dry air and calm weather for the weekend and early next week.
WA: Tropical Cyclone Dianne hit the Kimberley coast near Derby. It will weaken as it moves south and then southeast into the North Interior over the weekend. A ridge is in the east Pilbara and North Interior, with a trough near the west Pilbara coast for the next few days.
TAS: A cold front is coming to Tasmania today, bringing cooler air from the south. This will last until Sunday as a ridge moves in. A low near the NSW coast will move over the Tasman Sea on Monday, staying east of Tasmania until Tuesday as a high passes south of the state.
NT: The monsoon trough is bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms to northern NT this week. A tropical low off the Kimberley coast will move into Western Australia and may bring more thunderstorms to the Tanami District. Rain will increase in the southwest and spread to southern NT next week. Temperatures will be cooler than usual.
