QLD: A low-pressure system over western Queensland is bringing moisture to the state. It will move slowly east and off the southeast coast by Sunday. Another trough may move south near the central and southeast coast before clearing offshore on Sunday. A weak ridge will form over southern Queensland on Sunday.
NSW and ACT: A strong weather system is moving eastward from the south, bringing wet conditions to New South Wales. Meanwhile, a low pressure system in western Queensland is sending a trough northward. This system is forecasted to intensify as it moves across eastern NSW over the weekend, before a new high pressure system settles in.
VIC: A big area of high pressure over the Tasman Sea means warmer winds from the north for the state. But by the weekend, cooler winds from the south will come back after a weak trough on Saturday. Then another high pressure system will move in from the west. Later in the weekend, a low pressure system will form over the Tasman Sea.
SA: To the south, a ridge of high pressure will weaken today. A trough is moving across the NSW border, lingering in the southeast. By Saturday, a large high pressure system will form south of the Bight, bringing calm weather with a southeasterly breeze into the next week.
WA: A storm is forming near the Kimberley region, which could turn into a cyclone by the weekend. It will likely hit the coast between Kuri Bay and Beagle Bay. By Sunday, it should weaken as it moves inland. Expect strong winds in the Pilbara and North Interior from a ridge to the south.
TAS: A strong high pressure system in the east is bringing a ridge over Tasmania. A cold front from the southwest will reach Tasmania late today and move across on Saturday. This will bring cooler south to southeasterly winds on Sunday as a low pressure system intensifies in the east.
NT: The monsoon trough in the Top End and Carpentaria District will bring rainy weather to northern NT. Southern NT will have less humidity and clouds on the weekend. A tropical low near the Kimberley coast will bring more rain and storms to southwestern NT. Temperatures will be cooler than usual.
