QLD: A high ridge will sit over eastern Queensland for the next couple of days. A trough in western Queensland is pulling in lots of moisture from far away. The trough will move slowly towards the east, eventually weakening off the southeast coast on Sunday. A light trough may stick around northern Queensland next week, along with a light ridge in southern Queensland.
NSW and ACT: High pressure systems in the south and a trough in the southwest are bringing moist easterly winds to the state. A low pressure system in western Queensland is moving south, with a trough extending to the north and east. Another trough will become a low pressure system off the coast by Saturday.
VIC: A strong high pressure system in the Bight will bring cool southerly winds to Victoria until Friday. Then, as the high moves to the Tasman Sea, warmer northerly winds will prevail. By the weekend, southerly winds will return with the possibility of a low pressure system developing off the southern NSW coast on Sunday.
SA: High pressure over southern waters brings clear skies. Trough in southwest QLD causes cloud in northeast SA. High pressure moves south on Saturday, clearing skies in the north as the trough shifts east.
WA: A weather system will stay put in the north of the Kimberley. Winds from the east to southeast are blowing in the Pilbara, North Interior, and far southwest Kimberley due to a ridge in the south. A tropical low 28U might form near the northwest Kimberley coast and move inland over the weekend.
TAS: A strong high pressure system is moving towards Tasmania from the west, bringing clear skies and calm weather. A cold front from the southwest will arrive on Friday, bringing cooler temperatures and possible showers. By Sunday, a cool southeasterly wind will dominate as a low pressure system intensifies to the east.
NT: A rainy weather system is forming in the north of the Northern Territory near the Top End and Carpentaria District. This will bring heavy rain and thunderstorms for most of the week. In the south, cloudy skies and cooler temperatures are expected due to southeasterly winds.
