QLD: A raised area in eastern Queensland will bring humid winds from the ocean to the coast for the next few days, but will weaken slightly. A low pressure area in the Northern Territory and Gulf Country will move towards the Northern Territory. Another low pressure area may stick around near the southwest border until the weekend. A developing low pressure area to the north of Australia could move south towards Far North Queensland next week.
NSW and ACT: A strong high pressure system will move eastward, while a trough moves across inland areas towards the southern and central mountain ranges. A cold front will move southwards, bringing a change in wind direction along the coast over the weekend. A stationary trough will develop in the western part of the state, with a high pressure ridge forming along the coast.
VIC: A strong high-pressure system over the Tasman Sea will bring warm northern winds in the morning, followed by a cold front in the afternoon. A high pressure system over the Bight will bring a weak ridge to Victoria on Friday, strengthening over the weekend.
SA: A strong high pressure system in the Tasman Sea is bringing warm air to South Australia. A trough is moving through the state, followed by a cold front that will bring cooler weather to the southeast. A weaker high pressure system will bring settled conditions later in the week and weekend.
WA: The north is experiencing a wide trough of low pressure. There is a chance that a tropical low could develop far out in the ocean near the Pilbara region this weekend.
TAS: A strong high pressure system will hang around the Tasman Sea until the weekend. Two cold fronts will move across Tasmania, with the first reaching the west coast later this morning and a weaker front passing through on Saturday afternoon. A new high will arrive from the west on Sunday.
NT: A big low-pressure system will hang around central Northern Territory, making it hot and muggy in the middle and south starting this weekend.
