A ridge in eastern Queensland will stick around for a bit, but will start to lose its strength on Thursday, while a slow-moving trough in the Northern Territory and Gulf of Carpentaria will inch its way southward over the next few days. Watch out for a weak tropical low in the western Gulf Country as it heads over to the Northern Territory on Wednesday, teaming up with the ridge on the east coast to bring some much-needed rain to northern Queensland, especially between Bowen and Cardwell where heavy rainfall is expected until later today. Keep an eye out for another trough creeping in from central Australia later this week, drawing in more clouds and moisture to western Queensland.
