Australian State Summaries

QLD: A ridge in eastern Queensland will stick around for a while but weaken slightly by Thursday. A trough in Northern Territory and Gulf of Carpentaria will slowly move south. A weak tropical low in Gulf Country will head to Northern Territory on Wednesday. These systems will team up with the ridge to bring more rain to northern Queensland, especially along the east coast from Bowen to Cardwell. Another trough from central Australia may bring more clouds and moisture to western Queensland later in the week.

NSW and ACT: A strong high pressure system near the South Coast is heading towards the Tasman Sea, creating a ridge along the NSW coast. A trough in the northwest will stick around before moving south to bring cooler weather later in the week. Another trough will form inland with a new high pressure system over the weekend.

VIC: A strong high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will bring warm winds from the north to Victoria until Thursday. A cold front will then move through the State. By Friday, a new high pressure system will bring cooler temperatures, with a stronger ridge expected over the weekend.

SA: A strong area of high pressure in the Tasman Sea will bring clear skies to South Australia. A line of low pressure will move through on Thursday, followed by a cold front that will only affect the southeast corner. After that, a weak area of high pressure will bring calm weather to the south for the rest of the week and weekend.

WA: A large area of low pressure is over the northern regions. There is a chance that a tropical low could develop off the coast of Pilbara this weekend.

TAS: A big area of high pressure is hanging out over the Tasman Sea for a while. Two cold fronts are coming to Tasmania - the first one will hit the west coast on Thursday morning and the second one will pass through on Saturday afternoon.

NT: A low-pressure area above the northern part of the Northern Territory will move south towards Elliott by tomorrow and then stop moving. A high-pressure area in the southern part of the NT is getting weaker, causing more moisture to accumulate in the region over the week.
