Australian State Summaries

QLD

Queensland: Eastern Queensland will be under the reign of a ridge for the next few days, slowly losing its grip over the weekend only to be backed up by another ridge next week. Northern Australia: Keep an eye out for a potential trough forming to the north late this weekend or early next week, teaming up with the ridge to bring some much-needed rain to the northeast tropical coast and Far North Queensland. Southwest to Southeast Queensland: Brace yourselves for a southeasterly change creeping into the southwest on Sunday night, making its way over to the southeast by Monday evening for some refreshing weather.

NSW and ACT

In NSW, a high pressure system is chilling in the Tasman Sea, spreading a hot airmass over the state with troughs causing chaos on the central coast and in the far west. Brace yourselves for a cool change on Sunday as a cold front sweeps through, followed by a new high pressure system taking over the south and east next week. Overall, it looks like NSW is in for a wild ride of weather patterns, so be prepared for anything from scorching heat to gusty winds and a sudden cool down.

VIC

Eastern Victoria is currently under the oppressive thumb of a high pressure ridge, bringing hot northerly winds before a cold front crashes the party on Sunday and a new ridge takes over on Monday.

SA

South Australia is getting hit with a hot northerly airstream thanks to a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea, but don't worry, a trough and cold front are coming to cool things down on Saturday, followed by a strong high moving in on Monday.

WA

In northern WA, a broad trough is just hanging out, but don't worry, a high pressure ridge will come along on Sunday to push it towards the Pilbara coast, so get ready for some fresh southeasterly winds in the region.

TAS

Get ready to batten down the hatches in Tasmania as a strong cold front brings in a chilly northwesterly airstream, followed by a cold and gusty southwesterly wind. Don't worry though, things will start to calm down on Monday as a ridge moves in from the west, and by Tuesday a weak high will be hanging out over Bass Strait.

NT

The Northern Territory will see a wide area of low pressure spreading out, accompanied by a developing trough in the Arafura Sea, while a ridge will stretch over the southeast in anticipation of a trough forming in Western Australia, which will sweep through the south on Sunday, bringing along cooler temperatures and gusty winds.
