Australian State Summaries

QLD

Interior Queensland will experience some weakening showers and thunderstorms as a trough drifts westward, while eastern Queensland will see enhanced rainfall due to a ridge combining with the inland trough. The ridge will stick around for the rest of the week and weekend, with a potential trough forming in the northern Coral Sea to bring more rainfall to the northeast tropical coast and Far North Queensland.

NSW and ACT

In the north, there's a trough causing showers and thunderstorms, while a high pressure ridge brings easterly flow everywhere else – grab your umbrella! A cold front will skirt the state midweek, bringing a weak southerly change and pushing the ridge northeast on Thursday – time to break out the jackets. By Friday, a broad ridge from a high pressure system in the Tasman will dominate, but watch out for a cold front later in the weekend into the early new week – typical weekend weather rollercoaster.

VIC

A high pressure system is chilling in the Tasman Sea while a low pressure system is creeping towards Victoria - get ready for some wild weather! As the high slowly makes its way across the Bight, prepare for hot conditions on Saturday before a cold front crashes the party on Sunday, bringing cooler weather with it.

SA

Central South Australia will be stuck with some dreary weather as a low pressure trough drags its feet eastward, while those in the far northeast can look forward to an extended staycation; a high pressure system will be taking up residence south of the Bight before packing its bags and heading east to the Tasman Sea by Friday, bringing some stability to the region; and brace yourselves for a low pressure trough to crash the weekend plans as it barrels in from the west.

WA

In the north of the State, there will be a broad trough lingering around like that one person who just won't leave the party. This trough may bring some unsettled weather, so make sure to have your umbrella handy and maybe a backup plan in case your outdoor plans get rained out.

TAS

Tasmania is trapped between a rock and a hard place with a high pressure system to the east and a low to the west, so make sure to pack an umbrella for the cold front coming in the evening; expect another high pressure system to swoop in on Thursday and chillier temperatures with a significant cold front on Sunday.

NT

In the Northern Territory, a big ol' low pressure system is hanging out, with a trough making its way through the southern regions - keep an eye out for a potential trough forming in the Arafura Sea later this week, and another one sliding into the southeast from the east on Thursday.
