Australian Satellite Summary

The satellite map shows a trough bringing high level cloud and thunderstorms from the Top End to southeast Queensland. In Western Australia, a low pressure system and trough are causing mid to upper level cloud and isolated thunderstorms in the southwest. A high pressure system in the Bight is creating low level cloud and onshore flows in coastal areas of South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania. The rest of the country is mostly clear of clouds. To identify these features on the map, look for areas of cloud cover, particularly high level clouds for troughs, mid to upper level clouds for low pressure systems, and low level clouds for high pressure systems.
